Toyota of Manhattan Donates $2,500 to Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals

August 23, 2012 Leave a comment

On Monday we presented a check for $2,500 to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, the second winning non-profit of our Big Apple Giving Campaign on Facebook. Maggie O’Neill, Director of Development and Steve Gruber, Director of Communications came to accept it on behalf of the organization.

The donation will go towards helping to advance their life-saving programs which include transporting cats and dogs from shelters to loving homes through the Wheels of Hope program. In 2011 alone they were able to transport more than 14,000 animals and this grant will help them transport a few thousand more.

The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is a coalition of more than 150
animal rescues groups and shelters working with Animal Care & Control of
NYC (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at
AC&C shelters.

Congratulations again to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals for being the second winning non-profit of our Big Apple Giving Campaign on Facebook. We look forward to contributing to even more deserving non-profits in NYC through our social media initiative.

So you think you have it bad?

April 19, 2012 Leave a comment

So I woke up with this uneasy feeling in my stomach today. I just felt like I didn’t want to get up at all. I’ve had so many of these days since Mom has been gone but I keep moving and keep fighting on. There are reasons that I can never explain as to how life forces us to move on and keep moving as the world keeps turning. We all have those days we feel like we have had enough, we would love to just throw in the towel! Today was one of those days for me until as life would have it I stubbled upon this:

Just wanna share this beautiful inspiring video of Nick Vujicic, a man born without arms & legs. His positive attitude serve as a great example of the celebration of life over limitations.

Nick is thankful for what he HAS.
He’s not bitter for what he does NOT have.

I have never met a bitter person who was thankful.
I have never met a thankful person who was bitter.

In life you have a choice: Bitter or Better?

Toyota of Manhattan Keeps Big Apple Giving

Big Apple GivingToyota of Manhattan launched its second Big Apple Giving campaign on Facebook where fans get the opportunity to vote for their favorite charity from a list of three pre-selected nominees. Toyota of Manhattan will donate $2,500 to the one with the most votes. The current contenders are:

  • Food Bank of NYC: Works to end hunger in New York City by organizing food, information and support for community survival and dignity
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City: Provides mentors to all children who need caring adult role models–special friends who can help expand their horizons, realize their potential and enrich their futures–changing their lives.
  • The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, Inc.: Committed to seeing the day when no New York City dog or cat of reasonable health and temperament is killed merely because he or she does not have a home.

“As a Manhattan business, we felt a sense of responsibility to help our neighbors and partner with worthy local organizations that could help the community,” stated Toyota of Manhattan General Manager Steve Kritikos.

To become a fan and vote for your favorite charity, visit www.Facebook.com/ToyotaOfManhattan.

New York Daily News: Thursday, March 12, 2012

Here is a great article Phyllis Furman from the New York Daily News wrote about our efforts in looking to hire Veterans. We appreciate the New York Daily News helping us reach out to our Veteran community and give more Veterans an opportunity to find work. Please help us spread the word with the Veterans you know and help them find employment.

We have many positions available from Sales, Internet Business Development Center (BDC), Assistant Service Managers, Porters, Service Technicians. About 7 total. We will train as needed for positions mentioned. For a service technician, they should have a mechanical background and we will train via Toyota Training and ASE Training.

Veterans can send their resume or request an application via e-mail by contacting Jason Schroeck at jason.schroeck@toyotaofmanhattan.com. They may also visit the dealership to hand in their resume at the front desk and fill out an application.
