New York Daily News: Thursday, March 12, 2012

Here is a great article Phyllis Furman from the New York Daily News wrote about our efforts in looking to hire Veterans. We appreciate the New York Daily News helping us reach out to our Veteran community and give more Veterans an opportunity to find work. Please help us spread the word with the Veterans you know and help them find employment.

We have many positions available from Sales, Internet Business Development Center (BDC), Assistant Service Managers, Porters, Service Technicians. About 7 total. We will train as needed for positions mentioned. For a service technician, they should have a mechanical background and we will train via Toyota Training and ASE Training.

Veterans can send their resume or request an application via e-mail by contacting Jason Schroeck at jason.schroeck@toyotaofmanhattan.com. They may also visit the dealership to hand in their resume at the front desk andĀ fill out an application.

Do You Know What This Symbol Means?

January 19, 2012 1 comment

low tire pressureDo you know what this symbol means? It has been on some automobilesā€™ instruments panels in the past, but since 2008, it has become a required standard on all models. This symbol has been described as a ā€œU-shaped pictograph with treads and an exclamation point in the middleā€.

Well if you guessed a low tire-pressure warning, you guessed right. If not, you are lucky you are reading this article. It is the new international symbol for low tire pressure. The warning for the TPMS lights up when one or more of your vehicle’s tires is 25% below the manufacturerā€™s recommended pressure. It is to my understanding that at least half of the drivers out there, do not know what this symbol means. Itā€™s ok, if you do not or did not know what this symbol meant prior to reading this. Although the symbol is meant to be a universal warning symbol understandable by a wide variety of cultures and languages, there seems to be an issue with a lack of proper education for the general public. We are guessing that if you havenā€™t read your ownerā€™s manual or arenā€™t a ā€œsymbologistā€, you more than likely had no clue what this symbol meant. I sure had no idea until it was brought to my attention about a year ago. If this is the case, I am glad that our readers will now know and hopefully will be able to pass this information on to your friends and family!

Properly inflated tires are vitally important to your safety. Low pressure will affect your braking, acceleration, stability, cornering and fuel economy. The government instituted the TPMS mandate after the Bridgestone/Firestone tire failures on the Ford Explorer in 2000, a controversy that was partly attributed to inadequately inflated tires.

Having your Toyota serviced here is like going to the country, that’s just how you’re treated, in my experience, up front, honestly, squarely. I have no complaints at all about the service. They fix what is broke and leave the rest alone. Preventive maintenance is tops. I’d buy my next car here. – Alan B. on Yelp
