Scion FR-S Receives an ‘A’ from Recent College Grads

July 30, 2013 Leave a comment

The votes are in, the final tally has been scored and the new Scion FR-S has been named the top 2013 model for recent college graduates, according to a poll by Edmunds.com. The 2013 Best Cars for College Graduates survey asked recent grads to compare about two-dozen new models. The FR-S garnered 15.2 percent of first-place votes, the highest mark of any car in the contest.

So what makes the Scion FR-S so appealing to college graduates? Without question, one of the top factors includes its affordability, as the FR-S has a base price of just $24,500. But affordability is only one of several positive attributes that should have college students and recent grads gravitating toward this vehicle. Its sporty, athletic design and fun-to-drive nature also make the FR-S a winner to recent grads and students.

John DiPietro, automotive editor at Edmunds.com, noted how the “FR-S is a real ‘back-to-basics’ sports car” that is “lightweight, well balanced, responsive and very rewarding to drive.” The FR-S, which is available in five trims, comes standard with a four-cylinder engine that generates up to 200 horsepower, while still delivering up to 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. It also features advanced technology, from Bluetooth and iPod connectivity to a comprehensive eight-speaker system, which will make driving to classes a lot more fun.

Whether you want a sporty vehicle to cruise around campus or to make a good first impression at your new job, the 2013 Scion FR-S is an optimal – and affordable – option. Want to take one for a spin? Stop by Toyota of Manhattan today, and we can set you up for a test-drive.

Toyota of Manhattan Donates $2,500 to Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals

August 23, 2012 Leave a comment

On Monday we presented a check for $2,500 to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, the second winning non-profit of our Big Apple Giving Campaign on Facebook. Maggie O’Neill, Director of Development and Steve Gruber, Director of Communications came to accept it on behalf of the organization.

The donation will go towards helping to advance their life-saving programs which include transporting cats and dogs from shelters to loving homes through the Wheels of Hope program. In 2011 alone they were able to transport more than 14,000 animals and this grant will help them transport a few thousand more.

The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is a coalition of more than 150
animal rescues groups and shelters working with Animal Care & Control of
NYC (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at
AC&C shelters.

Congratulations again to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals for being the second winning non-profit of our Big Apple Giving Campaign on Facebook. We look forward to contributing to even more deserving non-profits in NYC through our social media initiative.

So you think you have it bad?

April 19, 2012 Leave a comment

So I woke up with this uneasy feeling in my stomach today. I just felt like I didn’t want to get up at all. I’ve had so many of these days since Mom has been gone but I keep moving and keep fighting on. There are reasons that I can never explain as to how life forces us to move on and keep moving as the world keeps turning. We all have those days we feel like we have had enough, we would love to just throw in the towel! Today was one of those days for me until as life would have it I stubbled upon this:

Just wanna share this beautiful inspiring video of Nick Vujicic, a man born without arms & legs. His positive attitude serve as a great example of the celebration of life over limitations.

Nick is thankful for what he HAS.
He’s not bitter for what he does NOT have.

I have never met a bitter person who was thankful.
I have never met a thankful person who was bitter.

In life you have a choice: Bitter or Better?

Pet of the Week: Benny a Rottweiler/Shepherd mix

We’d like to introduce you to Benny!

Benny was born in January 2012 and hails from New Mexico! He’s a Rottweiler/Shepherd mix.  Based on his current size and age, it looks like his nickname may be “Big Benny”. He is extremely smart (he already knows “sit”) and well-adjusted to being in different environments. Benny is no doubt going to be a grand addition to someone’s home.

We really appreciate your wanting to give a shelter animal a home and encourage you to search for just the right pet.  Head to humanesocietyny.org/adoptions and either email it back to k9care@verizon.net, fax it to (212) 752-2803 or bring it in to the Humane Society of New York, 306 East 59 Street (between 1st + 2nd Avenues) New York, NY 10022. Our adoption hours are 7 days a week, 10:30AM – 4:00PM.

The Humane Society of New York is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We offer FREE Vet care for the first 3 weeks after adoption. We also have a great adoption matchmaker who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. Please feel free to submit your application!
